FettyBu's Fall/Winter Fashion Favorites for 2009

Fashion_lace_ruffle_dress_d-and-g09

So, I love to shop and get all gussied up for a fun night out (I don't know too many women who don't)..

and I've found some goodies this season that I want to share with all of you girly's who love fashion

as much as Fetty Be and I do! It doesn't take much to pull a hot look together, if you just incorporate one

or two wardrobe or accessory pieces. Take a look around - I'm seeing sexy retro pin up girl looks, and

sultry 80's inspired Victorian chic.. Remember Madonna in "Like A Virgin"?

Madonna_14

Here are some of my faves for this season:

Fashion_chain_handbag_85732491_preview

Zippers, leather, grommets and chains - think toned down biker chic.

Black, silver, dusty lilac, peach and purple - think deep sexy, rich tones.

Chokers, flowers, netting, beads, and lace - think modern Victorian.

Fashion_blk_lace_choker_L13venisew

Boots, boots, boots... scrunch, lace up, zipper clad, over the knee.

Sweater dresses, tunics, layered mini skirts, leggings, ESPECIALLY if there are any zippers, sequins,

studs or lace.

Fashion_over_knee_boots_85398256_10_preview

Makeup!

An easy accessory, that many don't think about, is makeup! Remember this important hint - If you're

going for dramatic eyes, keep the lips toned down (subtle color and shine)... If you're going for big

luscious kissable lips, keep the eye makeup light and soft. If both eyes and lips are overly dramatic, you

may appear too gaudy or "clown like" in appearance, and that isn't very sexy!

Here's a helpful, easy to follow video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWIk5c7jRuw

Some recent findings that look great and wear long, are: Lorac's eye shadow in "After Party" - a

gorgeous  shade of super deep purple, that's almost a charcoal. I love it!! (very sultry, and perfect for

the smoky  eye look) Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Wet/Dry  shadow, in "Bronzinger", "Smok'in", and

"Crystal Ball".  They work really well as wet shadows! Cover Girl's Perfect Point Plus eyeliner, in "Black

Onyx" (this one's very easy to apply and has a blender tip on the opposite end).

Fashion_jewelry_netting_6-30-2009-5-55-56-PM-fall-fashion-trends-jewelry-women

Another favorite eyeliner I use, is Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil, in "#1999" (Their cream

eye shadows are fun too! "Mushroom" and  "Moonlight", are beautiful).. Maybelline's new Lash Stiletto

mascara, in "Soft Black". Maybelline's Superstay Gloss - I have three or four  of them, but my standby is,

(sorry I don't have a name for you) "#103".It's a glitter laced light pink, and it truly does stay on all

night long! It really, really DOES. Lorac has another gorgeous "couture" lip shine.. I just discovered a

few days ago, called "Glam". You have to try it! It's H O double T - HOTT!

maar01_perfume

Ahhh, Perfumes... sniff, sigh..

My current fail proof fragrances are -

An all time standby: (pricey, but never fails to please.. and I'm always asked what I'm wearing.

Unfortunately, France has recently put a hold on shipping their fragrances to the US, so I'm just short of

total panic).

Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier's "Sanguine Muskissime" (heady citrus tones) - Delicious!!!

Faith Hill's new Parfum (sweet and musky) Compliments on this perfume as well, and it's inexpensive! A

bonus!

Fashion_unzipme_article_09

Acqua di Parma's "Colonia Intensa" (VERY long lasting, but a strong, heady scent - citrus, floral, woods,

and a little musky.. can actually be worn by both men and women..-smells better the longer you have

it on..aka; as it fades lol!)

Juicy Couture's Parfum (a 'juicy' -pun intended- not quite overwhelming floral, with a vanilla and tuberose base)

My favorite perfume connections, are:

www.lusciouscargo.com (their customer service is amazing - try their "you pick samples" deal!)

Have fun exploring your own styles and tastes this season! This is just my own personal list of Fall

goodies... Fetty BU style! Wishes for a healthy holiday season...

~ FettyBu's Beauty Tips ~

Drink your water. Water washes toxins from our bodies.. when you don't hydrate, you're

more prone to acne, dry skin, headaches & malaise. This goes for you guys too!

Change your sheets. I recently read that you can drastically improve your skin's appearance

& reduce acne, simply by changing your pillowcase every three to four days. Wow! Who knew?

Limit caffeine, taurine, & chocolate. What?!Yea, I know.. that's pretty hard to do. Especially

the chocolate, right girls? There's no reason to cut these completely out of your diet, but they

do cause us to produce cortisol, which speeds up the production of wrinkles, & can exacerbate

some skin conditions, such as Rosacea. Caffeine can also inhibit the absorbtion of certain vitamins.

Moisturize. This one gets old, doesn't it? It's truethough.. the proper moisturizer helps maintain

our skin's balance of natural oils. This, in combination with getting enough H2O, is what

gives your skin that nice soft glow. The very best time to apply your moisturizer, is immediately

after you've washed your face. The pores are open, & the skin is damp. This provides easy absorption.

My all time fave is, Aubrey Organics Sea Buckthorn & Cucumber with Ester-C. All natural. A bit

pricey, but honestly here...what's your face meanto you?? In my opinion, it's good for all skin types,

though it's designed for oily-combination types. Aubrey Organics also has a few good

intensified moisturizers & boosters for extremely dry skin, as well as complete regimens for each

skin type. Oh! And, don't forget your sunscreen.

Use a good cleanser. By good I mean, good for you. Ingredients such as Sodium Lauryl (or Laureth)

Sulfate, strip everything away. This also goes for shampoos. Look first for Sulfate Free cleansers &

shampoos. Most will announce it on the front of the bottle, but look at the ingredients anyway. Tip:

the more your facial cleanser or shampoo lathers, the more likely there's a sulfate derivative in it.

Also important to lookout for in a facial cleanser...parabens, fragrances & colors. Especially for those of

us with sensitive, easily irritated skin. My all time fave is, Avalon Organics Vitamin C Sun

Aging Defense Refreshing Cleansing Gel. Paraben, fragrance, & sulfate free. Made with vitamins &

botanicals, and believe it or not, it lathers! Leaves my face feeling clean but not stripped. I can't say that

about most other cleansers I've tried.

Take a multivitamin. This might be the easiest to accomplish every day. A good way to remind yourself,

is to take it at the same time every day, & some folks have had success with a pill minder (can be found

at most drug stores). Look for antioxidants.. we don't get much of these from our food anymore,

unfortunately.I take one every night before bed. Our body does most of it's healing while we sleep. I live

by Nature Made's Antioxidant Formula with minerals. IMPORTANT: Please consult with your doctor first,

before beginning a new vitamin regimin, especially if you're currently

being treated.

Exercise. Everybody's favorite, ...am I right? Hahaha.. It's important for our circulation, heart health, &

our SKIN. Yup, that's right! It's our biggest organ, remember? Fetty Be and I switch off between cardio

workouts & pilates or yoga. We hit some of the pilates classes together because it's always more fun to

workout with a friend.. Exercise gives your body much needed energy, & helps eliminate toxins.

IMPORTANT: Please consult with your doctor first, before beginning any new exercise regimin. You can

seriously hurt yourself.

Sleep. I love sleep. I also know I don't get enough of it. Our skin really needs it people. When you're

sleep deprived, your face will usually reveal it in the form of bags under the eyes, acne & a sallow

appearance. Our body uses that time for new cell production. Long term sleep deprivation releases more

stress hormones, like cortisol (there's that word again) which can affect the way we look. Good 'ol

fashioned sleep should be very high on our "to do" list.

To your healthy skin!

XTREME POWER GLAM HITS THE CLUBS FALL 2009!

gis_bund_numero_6_big-1

Severe fashion is what comes to mind when I reflect on the fashion lines of the 2009 season. We have just moved from an animalistic Spring/Summer movement and have now tapped into styles with even bolder, and more powerful statements. The power, “Amazonian Woman” of the 80’s is DEFINITELY BACK!!! Robert Palmer’s video, “Addicted Love” really encompasses the look of the woman of Fall 2009 – a “GLAMAZON”.

RobertPalmer-AddictedToLove-1

This is a woman devoid of emotion…chiseled in a taste of 30’s glamour and armed for her daily war. The world is filled with darkness, war, strife and suffering in 2009. Fashion acts as a mirror to our collective consciousness and as a result, many of the major designers have picked up on this global social climate and their designs are as a result extreme in nature. One example of extremes this season, is the appearance of  the thigh high boot! This look is very reminiscent of Julia Roberts, who played the call girl in the 1990 film “Pretty Woman”.

Yet, the point of integrating these boots into current fashion is that the modern woman IS STILL sexy, but she needs to be tough and sport the hardware to back the personality that she must conjure in order to face all of life’s challenges. The GoGo dancers have been wearing thigh high boots in the clubs for ages, however, to see the style creep onto the dance floor is exciting.

DSC_5766FETTY BE IN VINYL

There is something deviant about them too…bordering on a dominatrix look, depending on the particular style and material of the boot. Check out the the look of the one and only MADONNA! These are S&M style thigh highs, but she’s rocking them at a public outing! She’s not the only celebrity either. The MTV awards were filled with A-listers sporting thigh highs, in particular Lady Gaga in her controversial Paparazzi performance.

fall-winter-2009-2010-fashion-trends-thigh-high-boots-madonna

There are many ways to ROCK the thigh high for us women, no matter what our shape, size and comfort level is. There are actually some practical perks to wearing thigh high boots….one being they help to keep the legs warmer, esp. when waiting outside clubs in obnoxious line-ups!!! Check out this interesting TV feature about them, to see how to integrate the look into all aspects of your life.

The extremes don’t stop there. The focus on power dressing truly runs rampant this year in all of the fashion houses and will definitely be picked up in the club scene. Women tend to dress more outrageously as nightlife allows for more suggestive looks. The powerful 80’s image has returned, along with the massive shoulder pads. Some of us inwardly grown!! Recording artists such as Rihanna has really taken this trend to an all-time high this season and has helped to further it’s integration into the designers lines. She has also been endorsing the military jacket for some time now too, but this season it has taken off! It may also have to do with MJ’s passing and his fixation with glamorized military dress. Either way, it’s hawt and definitely will be seen in the club circuit.

bebe-fall-09-ad-03

Embellishment via massive volumes of necklaces layered up, scarves, mixing textures, wearing extreme-sized jewelry all accompanies this seasons need to be brazen and war-like. As a comparison to the natural world, one adaptation feature that nature has utilized to help its creatures to survive and protect itself, is the ability to make oneself appear larger than they really are. It is an interesting parallel to see that during these troubled times, designers are helping women to dress in ways that help them appear larger, stronger and more powerful than the might truly be. Woman ARE sporting body armor in many of the looks that use materials such as: studs, lace, metallic's, grommets, LEATHER, faux fur, FEATHERS ETC.

bebe has even created a “GLADIATOR-INSPIRED” dress for it’s followers. Again, we suggest contemporary fashion aka body armor for daily living!

00390m

As noted above, the emotionless, hard edge to the 2009 lines doesn’t stop there. The robotic stream-line look of Daft Punk is embraced fully this year in fashion’s BASIC MUST HAVE – tights! They are also used to create a Disco punk look as well, but for the most part the tights of choice are black in various styles including faux snakeskin, metallic lycra, rider pants, biker pants, finished with lace, studes, buttons or zippers. The tight looks amazing with the thigh high boots and is definitely very slimming but possessing a masculine air to them. Tights have always been a favorite look in the music  world, with Mick Jagger coming to mind! The rock n’ roll world screams throughout MANY of the new looks this Fall.

Picture 3

bebe has based MUCH of its new line on the vampish, GOTH, Victorian punk, rocker chick look! Dark eyes are the ONLY style bebe seems to be endorsing this year in terms of make-up and it makes sense culturally. Women are over-burdened, taxed, machine-like beings these days….not too far from Zombieland. Women who bear the price of hardships with bags under their eyes. Why not go with it and cover the tired marks with black coal?!! They are a bit challenging to create for work, but this dark look is definitely going to be edgy and hawt in the club scene. Hell even Hermione from Harry Potter’s pulling cat eyes!!!! Sweet!!! Luv the messed up hair. This again is an extreme and reinforces the sentiment of being disheveled and “at war”.

Check out what the other fashion blogs are saying about bebe’s newest creations: ”This season, bebe’s fall collection is a harmony of world-wide influences. The collection combines adornment, embroidery and detailed handcrafting to give each piece a special occasion feel. Drawing on other early 20th century inspirations, bebe is leading a fashion revival—a blending of classics from the past with a modern day seductive twist. Whether going out for cocktails or a night with the girls, these fall styles feature sexy silhouettes and romantic styling.” www.stylehive.com/tag/fall_collections

Bebe-1

bebe7

Personally, we feel that there is far more discourse in the collection, although what’s been said is true. However, there is just SO much drama in the individual pieces that it demands even greater emphasis on the embodiment of power.  Fetty Be’s Buzz dear friend Miss April 2005, Playmate Courtney Culkin, reinforced this point with her quote about the 2009 bebe line on Twitter recently, “@fettybe as for bebe glam, its racey, sexy and classy! Hot this season!“ (Twitter September 25, 2009 http://www.twitter.com/missapril2005) We like the fact that Courtney utilized both racey & classy in the same description of bebe’s new pieces.

bebe3

bebe

Mixing up the fabrics and textiles, to give it that old world/depression era look is also one means that bebe effectively uses to help soften the look, in order to maintain some element of feminity to the collection. However, it brings to mind the French courtesan…who was meant to appear beautiful and be nothing more than an object. This is relates back to our early mention of recording artist Robert Palmer and his use of emotionless ice queen band members. We aren’t suggesting that women are objects, it’s just a hardened look that reinforces the idea of women being desensitized due to ongoing daily struggles. There are MANY traditional French classic designs still maintained throughout the collection i.e. lace boustier, brooch chain necklace, knit corsets, topcoats, ruffles, high-low coats etc. Yet leather and/or vinyl is then layer within these looks and again we fall back to our body armor image that seems to prevail throughout the whole season.

picture-491

IMG_2304  Birthday Girl Fetty Be in bebe

Other popular trends that we have noted in addition to those previously noted is a global fascination with the color yellow…It’s everywhere and it doesn’t matter one bit that we are now starting into the autumn season. Fetty Be has been dying for a yellow handbag and FINALLY found the perfect one, a Nicole Lee, to take with her on the San Diego Cabo San Lucas Groove Cruise. It’s perfect!

192762_001_ss_01  BEST SELLING ANKLE BOOT THIS SEASON AT DSW!!

Other interesting xtreme features to club fashions include: ANYTHING metallic, studs, buckles, bondage layering, grommets, zippers, off-the shoulder, the bubble skirt/dress, the asymmetrical tiered skirt, ruched dresses/jackets, pant legs!, the ankle boot that kicked into high gear last Fall, layered chains, fedora and high tea hats, the Yeti jacket of faux fur, and massive costume jewelry. The basic rule of thumb to help you keep your look hawt and fashionable this season, is to make your look severe…GO BOLD OR GO HOME. Have a look at what trends were noted following New York’s Fashion Week. It may push many people out of their comfort zone, but isn’t that what haute fashion is all about. We are meant to question our ideas, principles, biases and presumptions.

fall-winter-2009-2010-fashion-trends-knits-lady-gaga Lady Gaga AND Her House of Gaga Fashion!

AS FOR WHAT WE DON’T LIKE THIS SEASON…LET’S PUT THE ANIMAL FASHIONS TO REST except for snakeskin fabric AND DEFINITELY THE HARAM PANTS have GOT TO GO! Anything that makes a woman look like she’s wearing a diaper, just ISN’T hawt ‘n sexy in our opinion!

fall-winter-2009-2010-fashion-trends-zebra-print-heidi-montag NO MORE!

555HalfMoonBay01-5T BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD! NOT!

This season’s choices for club attire are endless for women! The materials and sexiness factor are abundant. Hawt clothing is available from everywhere from high-end to bargain stores. Time are tough and the public doesn’t have access to endless resources, so frugal shopping is becoming more and more the new habit to embrace. Reduce, reuse, recycle and rally your inner Xena...or "SHE-WOLF" for the dance floors!!

FALL CLUB FASHION 2009 TRENDS!

HAWT PINK IS THE NEW RED IN LIPSTICK LADIES!!

PINK PINK PINK!!This is the latest shade to have taken the fashion world by storm ladies and it's no surprise to see that the stars are now adorning the ultra-feminine shade on their lips! For years now, red lipstick has been making a huge impact on the fashion world via divas such as Gwen Stefani, Charlotte Johansson, Angelina Jolie and Christina Aguilera all reviving the 1940's glamor girl/movie siren. They have all been wearing big luscious red lips reminiscent of the "pout queen" herself, Joan Crawford. Well, as with ALL fashion, the trends come and go and pink is the flavor of the hour! It appears that hawt pink and fuschia are the most desirable. The color palette of the world today is bright and bold. It reflects upon our need to make statements about who we are and for our desire to highlight our diversity....STAND OUT IN A CROWD!

The beauty of pink is that almost all skin tones and hair coloring can make it work. The intensity of the pink is really dependent upon ones mood and venue of course. The brighter, bolder colors are always a given for the club look, yet women are bucking the norm and are wearing these loud colors to work, to pray and even to PTA meetings! Two of Fetty Be's favorite make up lines to use when it comes to lipstick are: MAC and L'Oreal. You can always count on MAC for cutting edge colors and they do have a spectrum of pink shades to pick from. I have also had FABULOUS luck with the L'Oreal Endless line. Their lipstick is very good at sticking and not aggressively bleeding. A lip liner is always a must, but this Endless line has been the most reliable lipstick for both day and night wear, aside from Mac for intense, lasting color. As for their respective pink hues, I would suggest Pink Power from L'Oreal and Girl About Town A98 from MAC!

This is a pleasant trend to see unfolding in the club scene for women. It's definitely UBER feminine and will definitely have the men DREAMING IN COTTON CANDY AND TECHNICOLOR!!! Mmmmm sweet!!

KIM KARDASHIAN

"Stars are pretty in pink lipstick Kim Kardashian is among the celebrities ditching rosy red lips in favor of hot pink. Solange Knowles paired pink lips with her short cut in Tokyo. Hot pink is the trendy new color staining lips in Hollywood. "It's younger, hipper and definitely a little more edgy" than red, says makeup artist Mally Roncal, whose clients include Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and Angelina Jolie. USA TODAY uncovers the perfect pout.

Kim Kardashian: The sultry socialite went for stark contrast with her glossy pink lipstick and striking black and white dress at the Orphan premiere July 21.

Solange Knowles: The risk-taking singer opted for a slightly matte, deep-pink pout for a promotional appearance with sister Beyoncé in Tokyo Aug. 10.

Leighton Meester: The actress looked every bit as stylish as her Gossip Girl alter ego with rosy lips and a quirky, modern dress for the Teen Choice Awards Aug. 9."

SOLANGE KNOWLES

ON PEOPLE.COMVote: Would you wear these latest star hair and makeup looks? Thinking of going pink? Roncal shares her tips on how to do hot pink the right way:

  • Texture is key. "Instead of doing a full-on matte, hot-pink mouth, which can be a little intense, go for either a sheer lipstick or a gloss. That's a lot more wearable and flattering."
  • Skip matching liner. "You can absolutely forgo the lip liner. … That hot-pink lip liner is definitely going to give you the ring-around-mouth" effect after drinking and eating.
  • Go neutral elsewhere. "In other makeup, keep everything else very soft and very sheer. … It must be a wash or you're in trouble; you're going to look like a crazy lady."
  • Don't go pink crazy. "I'm not opposed to wearing a little bit of hot pink in your clothing, but choose one thing, either a great shoe or a top or a scarf, but just not head-to-toe."

One to try: MAC's lipstick in Trimming Talk for $14, available at http://www.MACcosmetics.com
